Radico Khaitan Ltd., one of India’s leading liquor manufacturers, has announced the withdrawal of the ‘Trikal’ brand name from its upcoming single-malt whisky range. The move comes in response to objections raised by various religious and cultural groups who found the name inappropriate.
The company stated that the decision was taken out of respect for cultural and religious sentiments, underscoring its commitment to maintaining social harmony and being responsive to public concerns.
Radico Khaitan emphasized that while innovation and branding are core to its business, it remains equally dedicated to ensuring that its products do not unintentionally offend any community.
The whisky line will continue under a new name, which the company plans to announce soon.
