Avenue Supermarts Plans Aggressive Expansion; Stock Jumps Over 7% Post Q1 Results

Avenue Supermarts, the parent company of D-Mart, is gearing up for aggressive expansion, particularly in northern India, with plans to increase its store count by 20% in FY26. CEO Neville Noronha announced that the company aims to open 50 new stores this financial year, signaling a strong growth trajectory.

The announcement came alongside robust Q1 FY26 results, which triggered a more than 7% surge in the company’s stock price. Management also reassured investors of D-Mart’s resilience against rising competition from quick commerce players, emphasizing its commitment to value-driven retail and operational efficiency.

The expansion strategy highlights Avenue Supermarts’ continued focus on scale and customer reach, further strengthening its position in India’s modern retail landscape.
