Ircon International Ltd has been awarded a contract worth ₹253.56 crore by South Western Railway for the implementation of the KAVACH train collision avoidance system. The advanced safety system will be deployed across 778 route kilometers, significantly enhancing rail safety and signaling infrastructure.
The project is part of Indian Railways’ broader push toward modernizing train operations and ensuring zero-accident goals through technology-driven solutions. The work is scheduled to be completed within 18 months, signaling an aggressive timeline for deployment.
KAVACH, developed indigenously, automatically applies brakes in case of signal overshoot or potential collisions, and is seen as a key step toward achieving automated and safer railway operations.
This order reinforces Ircon’s role as a leading player in India’s rail infrastructure space, with a strong pipeline of domestic and international projects.
