The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) registered a total of 6,645 complaints related to food quality during the financial year 2024–25, reflecting persistent concerns over catering services on Indian Railways.
According to official data, penalties were imposed in 1,341 instances, with multiple suppliers being held accountable for failing to meet food standards. In response to these complaints, IRCTC stated that a series of corrective measures have been implemented to address quality issues and improve passenger satisfaction.
The number of grievances marks an increase compared to previous years, indicating ongoing challenges in maintaining consistent food quality across the railway network. The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing hygiene standards, monitoring food preparation, and ensuring vendor compliance through regular audits and passenger feedback systems.
